UNDERSTANDING THE ADVANCED ATX 3.1 SPECIFICATION

The ATX 3.1 specification introduces higher electrical standards, allowing the power supply to handle up to 2x total power excursion and 3x GPU power excursion. Additionally, the power supply must deliver 2.5 times the dynamic peak power to the PCIe slot. ATX 3.1 also enhances interface security. The 12V-2x6 interface connection has the same definition as the ATX 3.0 12VHPWR, but with different internal pin lengths. Notably, the smaller 4-pin length used for communica- tion and port power definition is shorter than in ATX 3.0. This shorter pin design allows the 12V-2x6 interface to cut off power more effectively, providing better protection for electrical equipment.
